Dibou at school

Their ideas take shape with Dibou

Dibou is a drawing app for children aged 3 to 12, on iPad. In class or in a workshop, it lets them invent characters, illustrate a story or imagine a world, then keep a creation they are proud of.

For teachers, activity leaders, libraries and creative workshops.
Creating with Dibou

How Dibou supports creativity

There are no right or wrong answers: the child starts from an idea, draws it and lets it evolve. The tools are easy to pick up, even before learning to read.

Draw freely

A blank sheet, pencils, markers, brushes and stickers. The child chooses their own tools and colors.

Example: “Draw what you saw on the way to school.”

Imagine characters

A character maker and puppets to animate, to give ideas a face.

Example: a friendly monster who is afraid of the dark.

Illustrate a story

Multi-page comics and manga for older children, a single picture for the youngest.

Example: a made-up ending for a picture book read in class.

Explore shapes and colors

Coloring pages, textures, colored paper and shapes to transform.

Example: a forest where every tree is a different color.

Share a creation

Each creation is signed by the child, with their age and the date. It stays private: it can be sent to loved ones with the families’ agreement, and is never published without a parent’s approval followed by review by the Dibou team.

Example: a signed Mother’s Day card.
Coming soon

The writing-through-drawing studio

When it becomes available, this studio will let children discover the movements of writing by drawing: a loop becomes a snail’s shell, waves carry a boat, an S wiggles like a snake. Dibou’s three levels will apply to this studio too.

Activity ideas

Six ideas for the classroom and workshops

Suggestions for using the app, to adapt to your group. Each fits in one session and works with one iPad per child or taking turns.

Individual creative time

Each child draws at their own pace on an iPad, with their own profile and the level chosen by the adult. They find their creations again at the next session.

Group time

A shared theme, a story read together, then everyone creates their part. The creations are shown to the group, projected or displayed.
